Who We Are
The Virtuosi of Performing Arts is located in Houston (Katy area), it is a center that provides training in North Indian Classical dance, “Kathak”, music and art. Keka Kar is the CEO and director of the company.
The mission of this center is also to promote Indian culture in USA and to discover unique talents and keep them in the public eye by hosting events.

What is "Kathak"?
Kathak is one of the major North Indian classical dance forms. It demands skills of abhinaya, facial expressions and incarnate multiple personalities from great Indian epics such as Krishna Leela, Ramayan and Mahabharata.
Kathak as a performance art survived and thrived as an oral tradition, learnt and innovated from one generation to another verbally and through practice. It transitioned, adapted and integrated the tastes of the Mughal courts in the 16th and 17th century particularly Akbar, was ridiculed and declined in the colonial British era then was reborn as India gained independence and sought to rediscover its ancient roots and a sense of national identity through the arts.
